Questions and explanations on this site can be wrong.

Most of the practice content is generated by AI and aligned to North Carolina End-of-Grade standards by an automated process. That means there can be mistakes — wrong answer keys, unclear wording, off-topic passages, or explanations that don’t match the actual standard. We try hard to keep these rare, but they will happen.

Use this app the way you’d use any other practice tool: with your own judgement. If a question or explanation looks wrong, trust your reading of it over the app’s. Each question has a small “Report this question” link — please use it. Reports directly help me fix things.

PracticeMarks is offered as-is, without warranty of any kind. The operator is not responsible for errors in the questions, explanations, or scoring, or for any decisions you or your kid make based on the content. By using the app, you accept that the content can be wrong and you’re using it at your own discretion.

Accounts and roles

There are three kinds of accounts. A parent or guardian creates practice access for a kid in their household and may create and remove kid profiles linked to their account. A teacher creates a classroom and adds student accounts for their class. A student account is created by a parent or a teacher and is used only to practice — it never sees class-wide reports.

Classrooms, schools, and student data

When a teacher adds students, PracticeMarks acts as a service provider to the teacher and their school: we hold and process student information only to provide the classroom service, under the school’s direction, and we do not sell it, use it for targeted advertising, or use it to build a profile of a student for anything other than K–12 school purposes. We do not re-disclose student information except to the connecting parent (below) or to the service providers that run the app, who are contractually limited to our instructions.

By adding students, the teacher confirms they are authorized by their school or district to use PracticeMarks with those students and to provide the information they enter, and that they will not enter information their school has not authorized. A student account is standalone practice data and is not connected to any official school or student record. The name a teacher enters is only a display name shown on the student’s screen and need not be a real name — teachers should use a first name, nickname, or initials, not a full legal name unless their school has authorized it.

A school or district may request deletion of its students’ information, or tell us the service has ended, by emailing support@practicemarks.com; we will delete that information within 45 days, except where a parent has already connected to their own child and chosen to keep that child’s account (see below).

A teacher may invite parents to connect to their own child. When a parent connects, they are agreeing to our family Privacy Policy and these Terms for their own account, and from then on they control that child’s account. A parent only ever reaches their own child.

Payment, renewal, and cancellation

Family access is sold two ways. The school-year plan is $34.99 as a one-time payment. It does not renew and nothing is charged again. Access runs to June 30 — the same date for every buyer, whichever day it was bought, and it is not prorated for buying late. When June 30 passes, access ends unless you choose to buy the next school year. The monthly plan is $6.99 per month, billed to the card you provide at checkout.

Neither plan has a free trial. The school-year plan is charged in full when you complete checkout. The monthly plan is charged $6.99 when you complete checkout and $6.99 on the same date every month afterwards, and it renews automatically until you cancel. Prices are in US dollars and shown before you confirm at checkout.

From time to time we run a promotional discount on the school-year plan. When one is running, the discounted price and the date it ends are both shown on the pricing page, and the discount is applied for you at checkout — you will see it as a separate line before you confirm. A discount applies to the purchase you make while it is running; it does not carry over to a later school year.

To cancel, open your account page and choose “Manage or cancel monthly plan.” That opens Stripe’s billing portal, where cancelling takes a couple of clicks and no email to anyone. Cancelling stops all future charges; you keep access through the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again. Your kids and their progress are kept either way, so you can come back later without starting over. If you would rather we do it, email support@practicemarks.com from the address on your account and we will cancel it for you.

Refunds: the school-year plan carries a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you are unhappy for any reason, email support within 30 days of that charge and we will refund it in full — no explanation required. On the monthly plan, the first charge is covered the same way; later monthly renewals are not automatically refundable, because cancelling is self-serve and takes effect before the next one. If a renewal genuinely caught you out, email us anyway and we will sort it out.

Classroom access is $99.99 for the school year, covering up to 30 students, as a one-time payment that does not renew — so there is nothing to cancel. Like the family school-year plan, access runs through June 30 regardless of the purchase date. Any promotional discount, such as a back-to-school sale, is shown and applied at checkout. There is no free trial; instead the classroom plan carries a 30-day money-back guarantee. A free teacher account can look around, but adding students and unlocking practice requires activating the plan. Printable worksheets are a family-plan feature and are not included in the classroom plan.

A teacher may invite parents to connect to their own child using a class code. A connecting parent gets a free 7-day look at the full family features, after which they can subscribe to the family plan or keep a limited view of their child’s classroom progress. If a teacher removes a connected student or closes the classroom, that student’s account moves to the connecting parent’s family account so their work is not lost.

If a price changes, the new price applies only to purchases made after the change. Anyone already on a renewing monthly plan will be told by email before a changed price is charged, with enough notice to cancel first.
